The 1,728 sq. ft. house was built in 2007, with solar-shield decking and sheathing, ridge vents, and heat pump central heat and air. The exterior walls are 6” thick with R-19 insulation. The attic has R-38 insulation. An attractive Lennox wood burning stove and stone facewall are in but flue hasn’t been installed yet. Foundation is concrete beam with solid two-layer flooring under carpet. No shoes have been on this carpet. House is bright and cheery inside with an open sunny feel. Mudroom has large pantry and space for 3 freezers. The house was designed with homeschooling and family togetherness in mind. Outbuildings include solarium/pump-house and mansard style storage/cottage. There is also an unfinished solarium/storage building. Most materials are already here to finish the building. The gardening is great and you can grow almost anything here (lower zone 7/upper zone 8). We have successfully grown beans, corn, many kinds of melons, squashes, herbs, tomatoes, peppers, eggplants, okra, potatoes and much more. This is also an excellent area for growing asparagus. There are four paper-shell pecan trees (Sioux, Choctaw, and Burkett), sixteen peach & apple trees (large variety for long harvest season), Asian persimmons, Satsuma Mandarin Orange, and more. The Mandarin orange tree is moved into the solarium in late October and back out in late March. There are several dozen Blackberry bushes, blueberries, and grape vines including Concord, Thompson seedless, Champagnell, and improved Muscadine. Fifteen young rose bushes of various colors were planted around the house in spring 2009. Great sandy gardening soil and delicious cool well water. This property is a gardener’s delight. New drilled well produces 20 gpm for all irrigation and home uses. Drip irrigation is already set up for grape vines and soaker rings for fruit trees.
